Eugene de Coque is relatively new on the Nigerian highlife scene (certainly compared to his elder brother Oliver de Coque). He learned the "Ogene" style of music his brother invented by playing in his Expo '76 band, but since 1995 has been working on his own style called "Igede". The music mixes traditional Igbo sounds with very danceable highlife for a rousing and energetic time. |
