Fri, July 25 The Cultural Heritage Choir

American spiritual music owes a debt to the slaves of Africa who brought the sounds of their homeland with them. This group will explore the songs, chants, field hollers and other harmonies, as well as the Fist and Heel Christian worship.

Sat, July 26 Echo Africa: Dance from the Diaspora

The dance roots of Africa are on display with the incomparable Rennie Harris and the Shaluza Gumboot Ensemble heading a lineup including tap, step, hip hop and capoeira.

Sat, July 26 Khaley Nguewel plus Rocky Dawuni

Aziz Faye and his drummers get the pulse of the crowd tuned to their beat and then Aziz leaps from his sabar drum and shows his real craft -- Senegalese dancing. His high flying dance steps maintain the beat while he defies gravity.

Later in the evening Rocky Dawuni debuts his new funky AfroBeat sound. His previous three CDs featured an African Roots Reggae, but now he moves into new territory with Roots AfroBeat blending the cool sounds with his smooth voice. Come hear the sound and get a taste of his new CD.
