African Music Concerts Week of Sep 14 - Sep 20

Prince is up to new tricks, having put together an ensemble with some of California's finest blonde hair on display. Expect more of his great kora playing as the show is entitled Manden Foli: Music of the Mandinka but look out for a new orchestration of the sound.

Phil dates back to session play for Stevie Wonder and others in the 70s, but he had and still pursues his own group and their style of funky jazz. He is one of the few great jazz trombonists, plus his writing covers the issues that matter. Jazz must be deep and Phil has the goods to deliver. You may have seen him in the brass section shadowing the drums of Najite when he stands in with the Olokun prophecy playing funky AfroBeat. Come hear him play his own style as the front man.
