African Music Concerts Week of Jun 18 - Jun 24

Malian Blues is a special category of music that is unique but carries recognizable threads of American Blues. The guitars are distinctive as is the language and voice of this duo. Their latest album "Dimanche a Bamako" received some high accolades last year, and will probably be the bulk of their performance this evening.

They've probably only been her twice before, so get out and get close at the El Rey. This is a good venue because it is spread out enought to ensure a good sight line, but you can also be on the edge of the stage for an up close and personal experience.

Billed as an African-American Blues legend, Eric's longtime friend Taj Mahal has a similar sound. Might be worth checking out if you are down in Orange County.
