Viviane N'Dour
Viviane is married to Youssou N'Dour's brother and is also a backing singer in his band. She has released half a dozen of her own CDs, however, featuring R&B and mbalax. One of her approaches is to take a popular American song and convert it to a Senegalese style, retaining the original sound but added a definite African soup of texture. Goor Fit was a big hit using that approach. This will be her first performance in LA, unfortunately it is at the Hollywood Park Casino. As much as I dislike the venue, there will be very few opportunities to see her live, so I will have to recommend this show. FOR MORE INFORMATION
