Sat 19 Apr 11:30pm Blay comes from Ghana and started out playing the traditional highlife sound of that region. He has moved through Afrobeat to what he now calls African Jazz. His new CD is in fact entitled "AfriKan JaaZZ" and blends the sounds of Wayne Shorter, Fela Kuti, and Ghanaian Highlife. Some of the music is destined for jazz radio, while other songs are solidly in the African camp. Lately, Blay has been doing a regular gig at the Temple Bar, so we may get to see more of him in town. |
