CD Cover: One Africa One Language

Eugene de Coque's latest CD came out just over a year ago. It features a long medley of West African hits remade in a highlife style (a tribute in the same vein as the "Ghana Success" medley on Soukous Stars "Face To Face" CD) followed by a series of original songs.

Eugene de Coque and his guitar will get your feet moving at the next West African Wednesdays. His sound is well known by the local Nigerians as the best dance music around. Once you start dancing it is a competition between you and him as to who is weaker and will give up first. We may have to split it into 3 sets to give the dancers a chance to recover!

Stamina will be the order of the night. I have seen Eugene play for 3 hours straight without a break -- as a warm up before his brother took the stage and sang for another 3 hours without a break!

Don't expect such Herculean efforts for this show. We want everyone to have fun including the band. Expect to get up and dance, and when it is time to rest get a bottle of palm wine. Pretend you are back in Nigeria enjoying the summer.
