Atlas Supper Club Fidelity turns out to be a large group of young locals that are intent on recreating the sounds of Fela Kuti. They have a full sound with bass, tenor and lead guitars, plus keyboards, drums, a robotic woman on percussion, trumpet, alto sax, and the leader of the group on tenor/baritone sax. Compared to Antibalas this band is much tighter with the horns. They attempt to recreate the sounds very accurately and have that deep rumble of the baritone down. They don't try to recreate the vocals which is a good thing because it would likely spoil the effect if it didn't come out just right. |
