Cheb Khaled is the King of Raï music, the social and political commentary music Algeria that the younger generation loves so much. He has an incredible voice which he uses to great effect. Raï music is probably the most creative international sound because it blends the styles of several countries to create a new unique sound all its own. You can expect to hear flamenco, salsa, reggae, pop and other genres suffused with the odd beat and wavering arabic vocals common to the region.

This special show is a rescheduling of the Desert Rose tour that was to take place at the Greek Theatre at the end of last year. Khaled will be joined by Hakim of Egypt. The Orpheum is a large theatre that will hopefully be revived for more concerts.
