Wed 20 Feb 10:00 Majek Fashek became well-known in his Nigerian homeland as the Rainmaker. The stories claim that after a long period of drought he sang "Send Down the Rain" and it came immediately. The government hired him to tour to all the suffering villages and so his reggae beat was spread throughout the country. Then lightning hit with his performance of "Free Mandela" -- three months later Mandela was released. The Reggae Prophet will be in town for one night at an obscure little club in Santa Monica. An opening act will play at 9:00, followed by Majek. It is not on their calendar yet so keep your eyes open and hope that this one comes through. |
