Fais Do Do If the Mahotella Queens had grown up in South Central instead of Soweto, this is how they might sound. What you hear is American pop music with an urban flavor, but when you break it down you can hear and see the African influence. To produce Wozani, measure into a blender 3 overflowing cups of dancing divas, one fluid ounce of liquid bass, a dash of jazz sax, and one tablespoon each of trap drums, timbales, and congas. Grind a masala of lead guitar spices and add to the mix. Blend on medium for 5 minutes. Pour out into separate glasses, add a pinch of African pepper, a breath of penny whistle, and a splash of urban bile to each glass, then shake vigorously while calling for social justice, garnish with a celery stick and serve immediately. You can listen to some of their music from their website http://www.wozani.com/. |
