The annual African Village Festival is hosted by
DJ Nnamdi
each summer at the Ford Amphitheatre. This show usually features African,
Brazilian, and Cuban music. Typically one or two other African shows are
staged here during the summer. Past performers have included Diblo Dibala
and Matchatcha, Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe, Mbilia Bel, and Madilu System.
While the sound system is barely up to the task of African rhythms, the open
air amphitheatre makes for an enjoyable evening. Best of all, the second stage
behind the performers is open to the audience for dancing, so if you like the
sounds jump up on stage and shake it for the rest of the audience to see!
