Because it is the biggest club in LA that features African musicians,
HOB gets the biggest names. In the last few months we saw Youssou N'Dour,
Zap Mama and King Sunny Ade. The bottom floor has a large dance
area that becomes standing room during shows. It is ringed by three
bars and some stools with a rail. The second floor has a restaurant and
two more bars that overlook the stage.
Thanks to the stage being raised up five feet, a great sound system, and
a professional lighting show, HOB is a great place to watch even if it is
a bit crowded for the big names. The trick is finding parking for less than
$10 nearby.
